The Inspiration: Elijah, My Forever Hero

November 3, 2017, was the day my world shattered. My son, Elijah-Alavi, lost his life due to a preventable allergic reaction at his daycare. It was a moment that forever changed the trajectory of my life. As a parent, you do everything in your power to keep your child safe, but what happens when the world isn't prepared to do the same? Elijah’s passing wasn’t just a loss. It was a call to action. His name became synonymous with change, leading to legislation, education, and advocacy. But beyond the policies and awareness, I knew there had to be another way to reach the hearts and minds of people, especially children. I needed to create something that spoke their language. And that is where storytelling found me.

A Love for Writing and the Power of Stories

I have always had an appreciation for storytelling, but after losing Elijah, writing became both an outlet and a weapon. Words could educate, inspire, and create worlds where children could see themselves as the heroes they are. I wanted to find a way to take something so painful and turn it into something powerful, something that would help kids and families understand the importance of allergy and asthma safety, inclusivity, and resilience.

Sebastin: The Catalyst for Creation

My son Sebastin, my warrior, my light, played a pivotal role in pushing IMMUNIFORCE into reality. Living with food allergies himself and navigating life on the Autism Spectrum, he has shown me time and again what true strength looks like. He faces the world with courage, curiosity, and an incredible imagination. Watching him embrace life despite its challenges, I saw the power of representation.

How important it is for kids like him to see heroes who look like them, who understand them, and who show them that they are not alone. Sebastin became my muse, my creative partner in a way. Together, we dreamed up stories of superheroes who battle the invisible yet dangerous enemies of severe allergies, asthma and anaphylaxis. It was through these conversations, these shared moments of storytelling, that IMMUNIFORCE truly began to take shape.

It is about perseverance, inclusion, and the power of standing up for what is right. It is about the unsung heroes. The parents, teachers, caregivers, doctors, and, most importantly, the children who navigate a world that does not always understand their battles.
